The CI program begins with an explanation of the purpose of this program; how it was developed by Jim Karol; and what it entails. The Attention component of the CI program is designed to help improve selective attention, improve sustained attention, and decrease unwanted distraction. This component includes the use of decks of playing cards and board games that participants will enjoy.
The Memory component of the CI program is designed to help improve short-term memory, working memory, and long-term memory. This component emphasizes verbal and visual mnemonics and associations that are powerful tools and easy to learn.
The Applications component of the CI program is designed to improve powers of observation, deception detection, and stress management. This component encourages participants to apply what they are learning to real-life situations and challenges.
The Well-being component of the CI program emphasizes the relevance and importance of exercise, sleep hygiene, positivity, and healthy nutrition to complement and enhance the lessons about attention and memory. The Summary underscores take-home messages.
